1st Cavalry Headquarters Renovation

As a testament to our strong relationship with owners, Cerris Builders partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the forty-fifth time to renovate the 148,000-SF, 3-story headquarters of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, TX. The headquarters building houses office space for hundreds of occupants and a Combat Operations and Intelligence Center. The building contains secure areas with limited clearance during construction and specific access control mandated by various military directives.

The complete interior and exterior renovation of the facility includes:

  • Repair and enhancement of the exterior facade
  • Roof replacement, complete gut, and remodel of the building
  • Installation of redundant electrical and mechanical systems
  • Parking lot reconfiguration, reconstruction, and landscaping

A challenge of this project includes accommodating occupants during renovations. Cerris Builders partnered with the architects to design modular swing space office facilities and parking which allows the 1st Cavalry Division to maintain operations and complete their mission during the renovation. This project is seeking LEED Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
